Thank you for choosing to learn about our world. I am confident that by sharing our values, we can build an increasingly innovative and solid future together.
Ithel’s story begins in the 1980s, when its founder, Henrico Locatelli, decides to return from Belgium, where he was living at the time and managing the country’s traffic light network, to Friuli, his homeland. A frightening earthquake has just struck the region, and Henrico is determined to put his experience as an electrician to work in the effort needed to rebuild his land.
For several years, he works from orders he receives from other companies. Being an electrician is his main and most important occupation. But a turning point is on the horizon. In the early 1990s, the telephone market is liberalized, unlocking demand in the market.
Henrico Locatelli realizes the opportunity and takes advantage of it. During those years, his son David, the current Ithel administrator, also begins to accompany him on the job. In 1991, the two are in South Tyrol for the first time. They are tasked with setting up the telephone network of the local Carabinieri legion. A job so well executed that it allows them to continue working for the client.
Two years later, in 1993, father and son move to South Tyrol. Work abounds here, and the decision was born to open a new line of business: data networking. The quality of the work and the ability to forge important relationships led Henrico and his son to work for some of the most important companies in the area, including the future Röchling, with whom they worked for many years.
The decision to open new lines of business and to abandon others is always motivated by the company’s vision, which allows it to understand in which direction the market is moving; by a constant effort for training and updating; and by the purchase of proprietary equipment, always updated to the highest and most current standards.
In the early 2000s, the company approached the market of video surveillance systems, carrying out its first interventions. The experience gained in this area opens up another important opportunity: to collaborate in the creation of cable car installations. The one in Merano 2000 is the first one the company works on. The experience gained in this area is such that, today, 70 percent of the interventions carried out involve the installation of intelligent, integrated systems within cable cars and other mobility facilities such as subways or movers.
